About the Author

I write exciting, literate fantasy stories.

I’ve written all my life, but mostly for research and business (I work in biotech), so writing fantasy is a chance to imagine in ways that I don’t get to in my ‘day-job’. Also, I read and love this genre.

Amusing the reader is my goal so in my stories the characters are in trouble from the first page and stay that way for the whole book as they try to save themselves and their friends by using wits and magic.

I’m inspired by fantasy authors including Joe Abercrombie, Richard Kadrey, Jim Butcher, Michael Moorcock, John Hocking and Howard Andrew Jones. Old-school authors that influenced me include Robert Howard. Particularly, I’ve tried to capture Howard’s fast pacing and vivid descriptions of worlds where only the strong and cunning flourish. H.P. Lovecraft is another influence especially his depictions of amoral, hostile gods. And dancing at fantasy’s far periphery, I really dig M. John Harrison, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, and China Mieville.
