THE LORDS OF POWDER – Evolution of a Book Cover

In finalizing my new novel, THE LORDS OF POWDER (  https://amzn.to/2HqdqU5  ), I had the pleasure of collaborating with a talented book cover designer (who also designed the cover for my first novel, THE LORDS OF OBLIVION). Below is a link to a series of four draft covers that were considered.

Ultimately, the bottom image among the four was selected because it seemed to best depict the story’s premise: at the height of Miami’s cocaine wars, a Celtic magician pursues a fortune smuggling – and must deal with the malign consequences of this decision.

From top to bottom, the razor blades in the middle of the Celtic icon become ever more realistic and white powder is added to the lower edge of the blade. All of this appears over a reddish-black background of a nighttime beach scene.

The final cover version’s image if below.
